![]() it is just a web interface to the contents of the ports tree that Dan runs out of the goodness of his heart. So the PMS_updater script is broken.and the pkg train is a version out of date.but it works.at least until someone updates the script or there's a better way.FreshPorts is not "dangerous". The pkg updater is broken unless you edit a couple files (NOTE: I HATE VI ON FREEBSD).įirst you have to edit the following using VI: Uh yeah.script is broken and pkg update & pkg upgrade plex is also broken.ĮDIT: What a pain in the ass. Please include that output and any error messages when posting questions. Where you can either switch to the iocage jail using the ID or name. Open a putty session to your FreeNAS, then change to the iocage jail: # iocage list > what's the best way to update this? For example, what do I need to copy to preserve that mount point that points to my actual media pool? Do I even have to? I have PMS itself set to put a backup of its library on the main pool (outside the jail) every three days but I'm not sure how to effectively use this backup if things ever broke. Ideally I'd like the update button to actually upgrade the PMS and leave the data as it is without having to use a backup to fix it. What's the best way to update this? For example, what do I need to copy to preserve that mount point that points to my actual media pool? Do I even have to?Ĭan I snapshot the metadata and then put it back and have it all be there when I restart the plex server after the update? Just copy it into temporary storage and then put it back?Įvery time I've tried this in the past, I seem to mess it up and end up with a new "orphan" server with no media in it. My metadata is in whatever the default is for a plex pass install inside the jail. I have the jail on an SSD pool, and it has a mount to my main storage pool inside it. I tried to use the GUI button to update it, but it basically resets everything to a virgin plex install so I rolled the snapshot back. Is this the way to update plex that is already in an iocage also? I left my data intact on the old jail for a couple weeks just to be on the safe side.I just stopped the jail and plugin until I was confident everything was working well before deleting it. Once everything is validated good on the new plex, you can delete your old warden jail and plugin. chown -R plex /mnt/myNASMount/iocage/jails/plex/root/Plex\ Media\ Server/Īfter that, all metadata was visible and working. Then you probably will need to change the perms (I had a problem until I figured it out). Then copy the metadata from the old jail (command-line) using: cp -R /mnt/myNASMount/jails/plexmediaserver_1/var/db/plexdata/Plex /mnt/myNASMount/iocage/jails/plex/root/Plex\ Media\ Server/ You install Plex in the new jail (I just installed the plugin) then stop the Plex service on the new jail. You don't do a thing with your media.what you copy is your Plex Data to the new iocage jail so you don't have to redo everything inside of Plex. I just did the upgrade from 11.1u7 to 11.2u3.
